Boys pieced t-shirt pants

Confusing title huh? Don't worry, you'll see what I mean.

So in case you didn't know February was Celebrate the Boy month over at Made By Rae and MADE, if you have boys or know any that you want to make something for seriously go check it out, there are tons of ideas, tutorials, patterns etc etc etc.. I have so many ideas of things I want to make!

Anyways I had planned awhile back to make a shirt using a tutorial I had seen at I am Momma - Hear me Roar, well let's just say it didn't quite turn out like I had envisioned in my head.. I loved the look of the pieced together tshirts but it just wasn't working in shirt form for me..

Well while looking through some of the Celebrate the Boy posts I came across something very similar, pants pieced from old tshirts!!! Genius! It was a feature of Kojodesigns that was on MADE.

So I figure hey I can do that. ...maybe..

So I set about cutting out strips of tshirts.. Big B thought I was nuts for cutting up perfectly good shirts.

And laying out some strips to see what I liked.

So after quite a bit of agonizing over placement this is what I came up with, these were for my BFF's little boy.

The front. Since these are for a 1 year old, I did add an elastic waistband, the tie string is only for decoration.

The back. I left the bottom unhemmed. My friend never gave me measurements so I just had to guess and made them a little bigger than a pair of K's pants.

I do have some more scrap strips cut to make some for my boys and I was planning on waiting to post all of them at once, but I wanted to go ahead and share these.

Quick little presto chango!

Okay so I've had this adorable little outfit for some time now, but Mr. K has outgrown it. Or so I thought..

A cute little Winnie the Pooh one piece.

For one, you must know I have a love affair with little sweaters on babies, they are sofreakincute!

Anyways this outfit was way too short for K, but as I got to looking at it, I realized the top would still fit him, YAY!! just the pants were too short..

What do I do???

Break out my favorite and most used craft tool....

My seamripper!! Yes you read that right, my seamripper is my most used tool...

The sweater was already finished on the bottom so I just took out the stitch holding it to the pants...

Easy-peasy...

For the pants all I needed to do was extend them a little and add a waistband..

Break out a little brown knit and elastic and here ya go!

I wish I could get a pic of K wearing it, but my little man knows what a camera is already and he doesn't like them... Maybe when he naps I can get a good decent pic...
