Okay so my sister-in-law really wants a camo theme for her little boy that should be here in March and asked me awhile back if I could do a recover for her carseat. I put it off and put it off, thinking it would be way too hard and I would just screw it up. Finally over the past weekend I figured I better get started on it. Might as well get it done and out of the way and her kids have a habit of arriving a little ahead of schedule...
So here it is...
This was actually alot easier than I imagined it would be.. Time consuming yes, and I did end up using my seam ripper alot.. Give me a break though, this is my first one. Too bad Mr. K had an ugly carseat because Momma thought this would be too hard to do, I'm sorry little man...
Basically just took the original cover apart (which was actually quite nice and in my color theme for Mr. K) and replaced that fabric with the camo and minky.
On the canopy I was able to reuse the brown from the original saving myself some fabric and cutting.
I even finished the underside with binding covering all those seams..
This little neck pad thing was even easy to do, although I didn't replace the snaps. The brown is from the original and where it snaps onto the camo piece I just punched a little hole in the fabric so it would still snap.
The only thing I don't like about it is the tan binding on the main piece. Somehow the original binding ended up being too short once I started putting it back on. How that happened I do not know???? I didn't add anything extra.. No extra padding or bulk, it's gotta be safe for baby.. So I made a quick trip to Walmart this evening to get more but they were out of brown, no brown whatsoever.. I suppose I could've waited and gone to Hancock's tomorrow but I was ready to get this thing done..
Oh well sis will still love it, she better cause I ain't redoing this thing!!
So what do you think?
